"Heroes" in Perks of Being a Wallflower (2012)

A great song always crosses generations. "Riders on the Storm" by The Doors is one of those tracks, so is Zeppelin's "Going to California", and most songs by Michael Jackson. David Bowie's "Heroes" is one of those magical songs that transports you into another world. Lifting you up, believing you can do anything. Everyone feels connected to this song. Matching it to this moment in Perks of Being a Wallflower [Stephen Chbosky] brings this classic 1977 song to a new audience while bringing existing Bowie fans to this great film.

"Golden Years" in A Knight's Tale (2001)

This starts off in a traditional sense with the usual banquet music, then shifts you right into Bowie's "Golden Years". This scene is much like the rest of the film – quirky and fun. Robin Hood, Men it Tights comes to mind. It's a fun movie and always good to see Heath Ledger on screen.

"Cat People" in Inglourious Basterds (2009)

Beautiful balance of darkness, suspense and beauty in this Tarantino classic film Inglourious Basterds. Shoshanna prepares to take out the Nazi's in the theatre. In one of the best Tarantino scenes ever, we root for her in this daunting task, hoping she pulls it off and gets out alive. If you haven't seen the film, do it!

"Life on Mars" in American Horror Story

This is an unusual one. Jessica Lange covers Life on Mars in American Horror Story which gives it the oddness required for this theme. Also memorable is the Seu Jorge cover the song in Wes Anderson's The Life Acquatic, but we thought we'd showcase this scene instead.

"Space Oddity" The Secret Life of Walter Mitty (2013)

Kristen Wiig sings and plays guitar over David Bowie's Space Oddity. This beautifully shot and executed scene helps us travel through the mind of Walter Mitty. It's a great movie for all you dreamers out there. Thanks Mr Bowie, you've helped us all dream a little more. We miss you.
